Shibori Kumo Spider Tie Dye Technique
Thursday April 9, 2026 3:30pm - 5:30pm PDT
Attendees will learn the Japanese shibori resist technique “kumo” — literally translated spider! This technique involves multiple rubberbanded “legs” to create your spider and then results in an all-over web design once dyed and revealed. Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth to create resist patterns. Once the fabric is bound, we’ll use a fabric dye to get a deep dark blackish color to set the design in a high-contrast colorway.
