SUMMARY:Versatile Wrap Skirt - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Create a Flattering and versatile adjustable Wrap Skirt using an original Desiree Salas Designs pattern. An upscale sewing project for the Intermediate sewist. In this class students will create a cute\, flattering wrap skirt available in 2 lengths with a Wrap tie at the waist to make it completely adjustable. The above knee length is perfect as a Beach Wrap and the Knee length version can be a perfect addition to your everyday wardrobe. There will be an optional “Lipstick” pocket as well so students can personalize their skirts by adding this functional feature. Can be sewn in a variety of mid-weight fabrics: Linen\, silk\, light weight denim\, linen\, mid-weight cotton\, broadcloth\, or recycled fabrics. Depending on the fabrics chosen\, this wrap can work for any season. Pair with tees or tanks for the summer or turtlenecks and boots for Fall. Students will learn stitching techniques and how to create professional looking trim finishes (which are easy to obtain!) A simple and easy garment to create! There will be multiple patterns available in sizes upto 4xl with adjustable waist ties. Students will use Desiree’s original Wrap skirt pattern and learn “trace off” a tag paper pattern (production style). They will learn to identify grainlines\, seam allowances and notches. We will cover simple stitch terminology\, hemming\, applying a patch pocket to a garment\, sewing and applying bias trim. They will also learn about topstitching\, creating bias trim (or using storebought) seam allowances and pressing techniques.

SUMMARY:Learn Tatting and Make Earrings! - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Tatting is a very interesting lace-making technique using a simple shuttle and crochet thread. In this workshop\, I'll teach you the basics and then guide you through making your own pair of delicate lace\, tatted earrings! You'll learn the basic tatting stitch\, how to create picots\, join rings\, and tips on loading\, holding\, and using the shuttle. Then\, you'll make a pair of earrings\, choosing from a few simple designs that will allow you to practice your newly learned skills! I'll have lots of examples of tatting - some old and some modern - that will inspire you and show you the possibilities with tatting. There's a whole world of lace making that you can discover by starting with this class. No previous experience needed. Tatting is truly a hands-on craft\, with one hand continuously holding and adjusting the tension for each ring\, while the other hand is guiding the shuttle and thread. It does take some finger dexterity and coordination (a bit like knitting)\, but once you get the hang of it\, it’s seriously addictive! If you use reading glasses\, please bring them along.

SUMMARY:Shibori Kumo Spider Tie Dye Technique
DESCRIPTION:Attendees will learn the Japanese shibori resist technique “kumo” — literally translated spider! This technique involves multiple rubberbanded “legs” to create your spider and then results in an all-over web design once dyed and revealed. Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding\, twisting or bunching cloth to create resist patterns. Once the fabric is bound\, we’ll use a fabric dye to get a deep dark blackish color to set the design in a high-contrast colorway.

SUMMARY:Beachcombing for Sea Glass and Symbolic Stones
DESCRIPTION:Are you a magpie\, a witch\, or someone who likes wandering on the beach? We’ll first learn a little about these stones\, then walk down to the beach after high tide\, just 2 blocks from our hotel. Faye will show you the best times and places to find seaglass\, hag stones and other precious\, pretty and just weird rocks. We’ll then gather and identify as many of the stones as we can as time allows. Some of the stones we found last year\, including jasper and serpentine\, are perfect for wire wrapped jewelry! Bring a little pouch or empty pockets for your treasures! We will be close to the edge of the water\, so waterproof shoes or barefoot is necessary. You must be able to walk on the sand and bend down to look at/pick up what is beneath your feet. We'll go slowly\, so don't hesitate to join if you're a slow walker.

DESCRIPTION:Tatting is a very interesting lace-making technique using a simple shuttle and crochet thread. In this workshop\, I'll teach you the basics and then guide you through making your own pair of delicate lace\, tatted earrings! You'll learn the basic tatting stitch\, how to create picots\, join rings\, and tips on loading\, holding\, and using the shuttle. Then\, you'll make a pair of earrings\, choosing from a few simple designs that will allow you to practice your newly learned skills! I'll have lots of examples of tatting - some old and some modern - that will inspire you and show you the possibilities with tatting. There's a whole world of lace making that you can discover by starting with this class. No previous experience needed. Tatting is truly a hands-on craft\, with one hand continuously holding and adjusting the tension for each ring\, while the other hand is guiding the shuttle and thread. It does take some finger dexterity and coordination (a bit like knitting)\, but once you get the hang of it\, it’s seriously addictive! If you use reading glasses\, please bring them along.

DESCRIPTION:Create a Flattering and versatile adjustable Wrap Skirt using an original Desiree Salas Designs pattern. An upscale sewing project for the Intermediate sewist. In this class students will create a cute\, flattering wrap skirt available in 2 lengths with a Wrap tie at the waist to make it completely adjustable. The above knee length is perfect as a Beach Wrap and the Knee length version can be a perfect addition to your everyday wardrobe. There will be an optional “Lipstick” pocket as well so students can personalize their skirts by adding this functional feature. Can be sewn in a variety of mid-weight fabrics: Linen\, silk\, light weight denim\, linen\, mid-weight cotton\, broadcloth\, or recycled fabrics. Depending on the fabrics chosen\, this wrap can work for any season. Pair with tees or tanks for the summer or turtlenecks and boots for Fall. Students will learn stitching techniques and how to create professional looking trim finishes (which are easy to obtain!) A simple and easy garment to create! There will be multiple patterns available in sizes upto 4xl with adjustable waist ties. Students will use Desiree’s original Wrap skirt pattern and learn “trace off” a tag paper pattern (production style). They will learn to identify grainlines\, seam allowances and notches. We will cover simple stitch terminology\, hemming\, applying a patch pocket to a garment\, sewing and applying bias trim. They will also learn about topstitching\, creating bias trim (or using storebought) seam allowances and pressing techniques.

DESCRIPTION:The Polish Party is a guided\, beginner-friendly nail art workshop where participants design their own custom press-on nail sets using gel polish and trending techniques like chrome powder\, cat eye effects\, and blooming gel. This hands-on session blends personal expression with tactile play\, offering a fresh\, creative experience that bridges beauty and craft. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating their own press-on sets. The workshop begins with a demo and hands-on practice of gel nail art techniques\, followed by open time for attendees to experiment and bring their ideas to life using curated materials. Each person receives a fully equipped personal nail station with 10 press-on nails in their preferred shape and length\, a UV nail lamp\, and the tools needed to complete their set. Students share a variety of gel polish colors and decorative materials\, including charms\, rhinestones\, and stickers. The session wraps with a relaxed 10–15 minute “gallery walk\,” encouraging participants to share designs\, spark conversation\, and celebrate each maker’s unique style. SUMMARY:Negative Reverse Appliqué Bandana - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:If you've ever met your instructor for this class - Rosalie Gale - in real life - she was likely wearing a bandana. In this workshop\, we'll learn how to drop the feed dogs on a sewing machine and stitch up a fancy looking but pretty simple to make bandana. If you don't wear bandanas - and don't think you ever would - don't fret! This bandana also makes a very fancy dog accessory. Make your pup look extra handsome when you tie your masterpiece around their neck. Please bring two (2) or more old t-shirts with you to class. They should be colors you find pleasing together. We'll be using both of them together to make one bandana. If you don't have any shirts you want to transform we will have a stack on hand for you to choose from. I like the look of a heavy weight knit for the bottom piece and a light weight knit for the top that we'll be cutting away. If you're not sure what you'll prefer - bring a few to experiment with. This is a low-key\, come-as-you-are gathering where you can bring any work-in-progress\, pull up a chair\, and spend some time crafting and connecting with fellow Craftcation attendees. ArtHouse & Co. will have tables and chairs set up so you can settle in\, hang out\, and make things in a cozy\, inspiring space. While you’re there\, be sure to browse their beautiful selection of books\, home goods\, and creative supplies. Craftcation attendees get 10% off anything in the shop (except Legos). Make a little afternoon of it by popping into Findings Market just across the street and Smitten Bookstore around the corner — two more of our favorite local shops. And if you’re hungry or thirsty\, Model Citizen is right next door and serves some of the best food and drinks in town.
